Nuvolato di Gré
An ancient and durable stone, with natural and timeless beauty, ideal for elegant and long-lasting projects.

Nuvolato di Gré is a natural stone of extraordinary beauty and geological value, belonging to the family of dolomitic breccias. It is characterized by a very fine grain and a gray color with light and dark shades, enriched by white calcite veins that enhance its elegance. This carbonate rock is an extremely compact sedimentary formation with a heterogeneous and intensely brecciated texture. Its origin dates back to the Upper Triassic, specifically the Norian age, around 228-209 million years ago, giving it an ancient history and a direct connection to the geological evolution of our planet.
Finishes
Thanks to its technical characteristics and inherent durability, Nuvolato di Gré is ideal for multiple applications, both outdoor and indoor. It is particularly appreciated for flooring, cladding, and furniture elements due to its resistance to foot traffic, weathering, and acids, while maintaining its beauty over time.
In the 1950s, the extraction of Nuvolato di Gré was carried out in small quantities in open-pit quarries. Later, thanks to mining research authorized by the Lombardy Region, it became possible to identify the contact point between Ceppo di Gré and Dolomia Principale, commercially known as Nuvolato di Gré. This stone represents the "mother stone" of Ceppo di Gré, being its geological and original base.
The Nuvolato di Gré deposit is extraordinarily rich, with an estimated potential in the hundreds of thousands of cubic meters. Located around the Ceppo di Gré quarry, it is exclusively extracted underground, an approach that ensures maximum protection of the surrounding environment. This choice represents a concrete commitment to sustainability, combining the enhancement of a unique material with respect for the land that preserves it.
